Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordic, Montenegro’s chairmanship of the UN Tourism Commission for Europe presents an opportunity to give the Bridging Destinations initiative greater international visibility and to connect European and Asian markets through the UN Tourism platform.
Kordic, who also serves as Chair of the UN Tourism Commission for Europe, met with Italy’s Minister of Tourism, Gianmarco Mazzi, to discuss the continuation and strengthening of cooperation between the two countries.
A particular focus of the meeting was cooperation within the UN Tourism Commission for Europe, as well as the Bridging Destinations project, which Kordic has strongly advocated from the outset as a model for the joint promotion of Southeast European countries in distant source markets.
The two officials agreed that the initiative, following two successful editions held in Rome and Tivat, has confirmed the importance of regional cooperation and the joint promotion of tourism potential.
Kordic invited Mazzi to participate in the First Europe–Asia Interregional Forum, which will bring together ministers, international organizations and investors in Podgorica in October.
