Diaspora as a local development resource

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The business forum, held under the title “Diaspora as a Resource for Local Development” and organized by the Ministry of Diaspora and the Municipality of Plav, aimed to propose concrete steps to strengthen cooperation between the diaspora and local communities.
“The thematic focus was placed on how the diaspora can contribute to local development through investments, transfer of knowledge and experience, preservation of cultural heritage, strengthening ties with their home regions, and proposing concrete steps to enhance cooperation between the diaspora and local communities,” stated a press release.
During the forum, investment opportunities were highlighted in sectors such as rural and agricultural tourism, renewable energy sources, and information technology.
Additionally, the need for systematic increases in production capacity as a foundation for sustainable economic development of local communities was emphasized.
Speakers at the event included Minister of Diaspora Mirsad Azemovic, Mayor of Plav Nihad Canovic, Minister of Social Welfare, Family Care and Demography Damir Gutic, State Secretary in the Ministry of Public Works Marko Jokic, General Director of the Directorate for Agriculture at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Miroslav Cimbaljevic, Acting General Director of the Directorate for Tourist Destination Development and Strategic Planning at the Ministry of Tourism Olivera Blagojevic, and Deputy Director of the Montenegro Investment Agency Merlina Tosic Sahmanovic.
