Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Association of Montenegrin Managers (AMM) believes that Montenegro needs a predictable tax policy, rather than the hasty adoption of regulations, as such actions fail to improve the entrepreneurial climate and send a negative signal to potential investors.
AMM representatives acknowledged the challenges facing the country’s economic policy and the clear need to ensure public finance stability through fiscal consolidation measures.
“However, we express concern over the manner in which tax increases are being introduced in the middle of the business year, without consultation with the business community and without prior notice that would allow businesses to adapt and plan accordingly,” AMM stated in a press release.
According to the business association, such administrative decisions made without dialogue, introduce further uncertainty into the business environment and signal that the economy may be unexpectedly burdened with new levies.
“What’s needed is a predictable tax policy, not regulations passed overnight, as this does not help improve the business climate, complicates investment planning, and sends a negative signal to both foreign and domestic investors,” AMM concluded.
