Opening of new plant to enable lower prices of brick and tile

Opening of new plant to enable lower prices of brick and tile
Price of brick and tile, that are to be produced by a new plant in Pljevlaj from next year, that is joint property of Greek Company Kothali group and Firm Breznik from Pjevlja, will be by 50% lower then the imported ones. Brick produced in the new plant will coast about 40 pfennings and it is by 50% lower then the price of this product imported currently from Italy and Serbia", said for Mina-business member of Managerial board of Kothali group, Harris Samaras. This Greek company has already signed the contract with the firm Breznik on the joint venture arrangement that predicts opening of a new plant of bricks and tiles the total investment of which is apprised to be approximately 25 million USD. Samaras claims that the new plant will provide cheaper and more quality products for Montenegro, necessary for constructing the infrastructure, instead of, as he claims, the products imported from Serbia that do not satisfy European Union standards. "We shall produce bricks and tiles in accordance with EU production standards as well as in accordance with those predicted for environmental protection. The plant will work 365 days a year for 21 up to 24 hours a day contrary to Serbian plants that work only during summer since they do not have capacities for brick drying so the price of its products will be the same both during summer and during winter", said Samaras. According to him, construction of plant in Pljevlja will most probably initiate in May while it is expected to be finished in 18 months. Opening of this plant, which is according to him one of the biggest foreign investments in Montenegro, will help the other investor understand that this region is stabile for investments and it will attract their attention. He estimates that in case Montenegro wants to gain the trust of foreign investors it has to protect its product and he adds that such policy will provide a chance for competition with importers. "Every product related to construction of infrastructure has to be protected at least for a certain period of time. It is the fact that Montenegro intends to become member of the EU some day, so it has to protect certain categories of products just like the other members of this community in the way that will not endanger its development", said Samaras. He announces that Kothali group plans to supply all the Montenegrin market with its products as well as markets of Albania, Croatia, South Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Italy. "Strategic position of Pljevlja provides sale of these products on all these markets since we will be closer then the competition. Pljevlja is reach in clay that has fantastic characteristics and by using our technology we shall produce the best possible product of brick and tiles", explained Samaras. The plant will be able to produce about 20 million peaces of tile and 120 thousand tons of brick and local people will be employed in it, apart form mangers and inspectors that will come from Greece. "Approximately 70 people will work in production and at least that much will work in distribution of products. We are planning to open distributive centers in Podgorica and on the coast and means that number of the employed will be even bigger", claims Samaras. Kothali group prepared training plan for workers that are to work in the plant and some of them will even visit Greece where they are to be thoroughly informed on the way of work in administration and production. Company will initiate exporting its products to Montenegro this month so that it could increase its sale and analyze the situation on the market. "Some of these products will appear on the Montenegrin market for the first time and two kinds of tiles are some of them: #Smalto# and #Smalto colora# as well as #Porton# bricks. The prices of this products will not be high an din some cases even lower the price of products already used in the country. For example "Smalto" tile, for which Kothali Group offers lifelong guarantee, will be significantly cheaper then the tile imported from Serbia", said Samaras.
