Activities intensified to unlock the potential of Djalovica Cave

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Minister of Public Works Majda Adzovic, the Ministry of Public Works has intensified activities over the past two years to continue the implementation of the Djalovica Cave project, including the completion of power infrastructure and the continuation of cable car construction works.

Responding to a question from Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) MP Abaz Dizdarevic regarding the development of Djalovica Cave and the Cmiljaca ski center, Adzovic said in Parliament that the pace of implementation had depended on meeting environmental protection requirements and measures defined by the Environmental Protection Agency, which were a necessary prerequisite for continuing activities on the cave project.

“During the past and current year, work on the substation and power supply line for the Visitor Center was completed, activities to put the newly built power infrastructure into operation were initiated, and work on completing the cable car continued,” Adzovic said.

Speaking about the Cmiljaca Ski Center project, Adzovic stated that infrastructure works worth approximately €17.5 million had been completed by 2022.

These included the construction of the approximately 15-kilometer Ravna Rijeka–Jasikovac–Cmiljaca road, the building of cable cars, ski slopes, and a power substation, as well as the preparation of project documentation and the completion of expropriation procedures.

“After several years of stagnation, the Ministry of Public Works resumed project implementation last year through the construction of power infrastructure, specifically a transmission line from the Ribarevine substation to the Cmiljaca substation, and conducted a public procurement procedure for selecting a contractor for the Jasikovac–Cmiljaca road under a design-build model,” Adzovic said.
