Podgorica, (MINA) – The Constitutional Court of Montenegro has managed, despite numerous challenges, to reach a point where it is working only on the constitutional appeals filed in the past two years, said the Court’s President, Snezana Armenko.
Speaking at the round table “Enforcement of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) Judgements in Montenegro”, she said that the average proceedings duration before front of the Constitutional Court has been also reduced to one year and eight months.
According to Armenko, the Constitutional Court constantly contributes to the improvement of constitutional democracy, especially by improving the reasoning in its decisions, which are grounded in the EctHR case law.
“Respecting for the Constitution and Montenegro’s legislation is not only an obligation for every citizen, but above all an obligation of all national authorities, which must demonstrate through their work that their work is unconditionally based on respect for the Constitution and the law”, said Armenko.
