Azerbaijani Ombudsman requests Montenegro to respect the right of arrested nationals of this country

Podgorica, (MINA) - Azerbaijani Commissioner for Human Rights Sabina Aliyeva has sent a letter to Montenegrin Ombudsman Sinisa Bjekovic requesting that the human rights of Azerbaijani nationals arrested in Podgorica in the past few days be fully respected.
The Office of the Azerbaijani Ombudsman announced that Aliyeva asked Bjekovic to ensure that the rights of the citizens of Azerbaijan, currently in detained, are protected in accordance with Montenegrin legislation and international obligations in the field of human rights.
Aliyeva stressed the importance of respecting the presumption of innocence of the detainees and their right to legal assistance and the use of interpreter services.
“The letter emphasizes the need to prevent any discrimination, hate speech or hostility on ethnic, national or religious grounds, in accordance with the principles of equality and non-discrimination established by international documents”, the Office announced.
