Government extends function allowances for judges and prosecutors until end of 2026

Podgorica, (MINA) – The Government of Montenegro adopted on Thursday proposals to amend the Law on the Judicial Council and Judges, the Law on the State Prosecutor’s Office and the Law on the Constitutional Court, extending function allowances for judges and prosecutors until the end of next year.

The Government announced that the amendments stem from the principle that judges and state prosecutors have the right to earn in accordance with the dignity of the judicial office and responsibility they carry.

“According to the adopted amendments, the right of judges and prosecutors to receive function allowances is extended until December 31, 2026”, the press release stated.

The Government also adopted the Proposal to amend the Law on Arbitration, which, as announced, will create the conditions for arbitration to be recognized as an important tool for resolving disputes not only among business entities in Montenegro, but also among foreign investors.

It is stated that the goal of that law is to further position Montenegro as an EU membership candidate.
