Podgorica, (MINA) – In its latest non-paper, the European Commission (EC) has expressed serious concern regarding freedom of expression and the position of journalists in Montenegro, despite a generally positive tone, said President of the Media Trade Union (SMCG), Radomir Krackovic.
He made this remark while answering a journalist’s question during a press conference presenting the survey on the state of media freedoms in Montenegro.
"If you read the part concerning freedom of expression, you can see that the EC has expressed serious concern. That is exactly where they refer to the assessments that have been continuously presented by the Media Trade Union”, Krackovic said.
He noted that the document specifically points to the increase in attacks on journalists in the previous year, while, as he said, data from the Media Trade Union on 33 recorded cases is used.
Krackovic added that the EC also expressed concern about the poor socioeconomic position of journalists in Montenegro.
