Opening Wizz Air base marks a major step towards improving Montenegro’s international connectivity

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to the Ministry of Tourism, the opening a base at Podgorica Airport announced by Wizz Air marks a significant step towards improving Montenegro’s international connectivity, increasing tourist numbers, and extending the tourist season.

The Ministry welcomed the announcement from one of Europe’s largest low-cost carriers, Wizz Air, that it will open a base at Podgorica Airport and launch 14 new routes in March next year.

“The Ministry of Tourism especially commends the efforts of Airports of Montenegro and the Ministry of Transport, which, through partnership and strategic action, contributed to the realization of this important project,” the Ministry stated in a press release.

Increasing the number of routes and improving connectivity with European destinations will further boost tourist traffic, attract more international visitors, and help reduce seasonality, which is one of the key goals of the Ministry of Tourism.

“Air connectivity is one of the most important prerequisites for sustainable tourism growth and development, and projects like this confirm that Montenegro is moving toward long-term stability and competitiveness in the international market,” the press release reads.
