Podgorica, (MINA) – The citizens of Zeta will not give up their opposition to the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in Botun, participants of the Sunday protest in this Zeta settlement said, stressing that they are not fighting against development and progress, but against humiliation.
In addition to Democratic People’s Party MP Milan Knezevic, Deputy Prime Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Milun Zogovic and his advisor Predrag Bulatovic attended the protest.
President of the Municipality of Zeta, Mihailo Asanovic, said that the people of Zeta will not give up.
“Be sure that we will stand with our citizens until the end”, said Aasanovic.
He said that several companies are interested in building a logistics center on the site currently planned for the construction of the wastewater treatment plant.
“On December 14, we are not voting for any party, our only interest is Zeta. We have to defend it”, said Asanovic and added that he is confident that 95 percent of citizens will vote against the construction of the plant.
Botun resident Dusko Stijepovic said that the people of Botun have nowhere else to go and that they are investing their efforts and lives to persevere in the unfair struggle against “large Western capital and dirty technologies”.
Protest participant Slavko Vukcevic stressed that the people of Botun no longer believe in promises and called on all Zeta residents to vote against the plant’s construction in the December 14 referendum.
