Podgorica, (MINA) - Deputy Prime Minister for Security, Defense, Fight against Crime and Internal Affairs Aleksa Becic submitted an initiative to the Steering Committee of the Police Academy in Danilovgrad to rename this institution to the Higher Vocational School “Police Academy Slavoljub Scekic”.

According to a press release from his office, Becic submitted an initiative as a sign of memory and respect for the police inspector who lost his life in the fight against crime.

According to the press release, Becic stated that August 30 marks 20 years since the murder of Scekic, one of, as he said, “the most honorable people the Montenegrin police have ever produced”.

He said that the name of Slavoljub Scekic deserves to stand at the entrance to the highest professional police institution in Montenegro, as a daily reminder to future generations that the honorable wearing of a uniform does not begin on the day of employment, but on the day when they decide that the truth is worth more than a career.
