Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Members of Parliament from the Social Democrats (SD) have submitted amendments to the proposed amendments to this year’s Budget Law, requesting that more funds are redirected to socially vulnerable groups, employment, and improving the competitiveness of the economy.
“The amendments proposed by SD MPs do not require additional budget spending but involve reallocating existing funds by reducing planned expenditures in certain budget categories (officials, consultants, service contracts, lawyers) and directing them toward those in greater need (socially vulnerable groups, the unemployed, micro and small enterprises),” stated a press release.
According to the proposal, the already large allocation for official travel and expense accounts amounting to €9.4 million, which have been significantly increased compared to last year, would be reduced by €1.5 million, with those funds redirected to recipients of financial support.
“This is also an obligation based on the conclusions adopted by Parliament over the past few years, at the initiative of SD MPs, to increase the meagre amounts allocated to the most vulnerable groups, which haven’t been adjusted in years, despite the significant rise in the cost of living,” the press release reads.
The SD proposal also envisages reducing the substantial €16.8 million allocated for service contracts by €1 million and redirecting that amount toward providing free transportation for students and free school meals for children from vulnerable groups.
