Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Operational Inspection Sector of the Tax Administration conducted 61 inspections of accommodation providers last week, identifying irregularities with 34 taxpayers, who were issued fines totalling €67,000.

During the summer tourist season, the Sector has stepped up monitoring of seasonal businesses, with a particular focus on tourism and hospitality activities.

“Last week was marked by intensified inspections of accommodation providers. A total of 61 inspections were carried out, and irregularities were found with 34 taxpayers, who were fined a total of €67,000,” the Tax Administration stated in a press release.

According to the tax authority, intensified inspections will continue, and all accommodation providers are therefore urged to register their business activities and ensure compliance with the Law on Fiscalization in the Trade of Goods and Services.

“In all cases where irregular business practices are detected, tax inspectors impose prescribed penalties, ranging from issuing misdemeanour orders to temporary bans on operations and closing of facilities,” the press release stated.
