Podgorica, (MINA) - The Basic State Prosecutor’s Office (ODT) in Podgorica has launched an investigation after the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatovic, reported that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development, Nik Gjeloshaj, sent him threatening and inappropriate messages via phone correspondence on Friday evening.
This was confirmed this to Vijesti daily by Head of Podgorica Prosecutor’s Office Dusko Milanovic.
According to Vijesti, the prosecution will take statements from both Milatovic and Gjeloshaj in the following days, after which a decision will be made in the case.
Milatovic’s cabinet announced earlier that Gjeloshaj had sent a series of threats and inappropriate messages to Milatovic, immediately after it was announced that the President had returned the Law on Real Estate Tax to the Parliament for reconsideration.
Later that night, Milatovic’s office called on Prime Minister Milojko Spajic to immediately dismiss Gjeloshaj, and reported the incident to the Chief of Police.
Gjeloshaj stated in the press release that Milatovic is trying to divert the public attention from what he had planned to disclose, namely that Milatovic refused to sign the Law on Real Estate Tax, due to, as he claims, nepotism and ties with Nebojsa Vuksanovic, former president of the Board of Directors of Plantaze, “in order to obtain personal benefit for himself and Vuksanovic”.
The President’s office told the Vijesti that Vuksanovic is not Milatovic’s godfather, but has been hired as an advisor in the cabinet of the President of Montenegro.
