Podgorica, (MINA) - Security is a top priority that allows no compromise, Minister of the Interior Danilo Saranovic said, adding that the current leadership of this ministry proves that results can be achieved through impartiality.

Saranovic, according to the press release from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, said this during a meeting with US Ambassador to Montenegro Judy Rising Reinke.

He pointed out that the historical results in dismantling criminal groups, the fight against drug smuggling and prosecuting high level corruption have been achieved thanks to strong support and intensive cooperation with US law enforcement agencies.

As Saranovic remarked, the recognition of Montenegro as a reliable partner in the fight against transnational crime is not only a success, but also an obligation to continue with reforms with even more intensity, the goal of which is full professionalization and ensuring the integrity of police officers.

Reinke pointed out that the close inter-departmental cooperation is a clear indicator of the strong partnership between the USA and Montenegro, adding that Montenegro can count on further expert and technical support in the field of internal affairs, with a special focus on capacity modernization.
