New opportunities but also responsibilities for lawyers in AI era

New opportunities but also responsibilities for lawyers in AI era

Podgorica, (MINA) – Artificial intelligence (AI) will not replace lawyers, but it will significantly change the way they provide legal services, which is why representatives of this profession will need to strike a balance between the advantages of technological innovation, professional responsibility and protection of clients’ interests, it was assessed during the panel discussion “Law 2.0: Transformation of Management and Synergy with other Professions”.

The panel was held as part of the conference “The Future of the Legal Profession in Montenegro”, organized in Podgorica by the law office “Jovovic, Mugosa & Vukovic”.

The panel participants discussed how artificial intelligence is changing the legal profession, how it can improve efficiency, but also how to harmonize its application with professional responsibility, data confidentiality and client interests.

Milan Keker, co-founder and partner in the “KBP Legal” law office, emphasized that artificial intelligence should be seen as a tool that can improve the work of lawyers, but not replace their expertise and responsibility.

Keker placed special emphasis on maintaining client trust and transparency when using AI tools.

Marko Porobija, managing partner at the Croatian law firm “Porobija & Spoljaric”, believes that artificial intelligence increases efficiency, but also contributes to improving the quality of legal services.

He said that AI tools enable lawyers to respond more easily to market demands and maintain a high standard despite the increasing workload and the everyday pressures.

Bojana Nikcevic, a lawyer at the “Jovovic, Mugosa & Vukovic” law office, said that this office has already started gradually introducing AI tools into their daily work, primarily through solutions integrated into existing business processes.

She believes that the control issue is one of the major challenges in the application of artificial intelligence in the legal profession, which is why it is necessary to establish multiple levels of checks of the results generated by AI systems.
