Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Monteput has launched a new service within the electronic toll collection system (ETC) – video tolling, which allows users to pass through toll stations without a TAG device.
This system operates based on license plate recognition, automatically charging the toll fee to the user’s account.
“It is essential that license plates are clean and legible, and drivers should use the ETC lanes when passing through toll stations,” Monteput stated in a press release.
The video tolling service is available for all vehicles, including those registered outside Montenegro.
Until now, ETC was available exclusively via TAG devices, which remain in use.
With the introduction of video tolling, Monteput further simplifies electronic toll payment, contributing to faster traffic flow and reducing congestion at toll booths, especially during the summer season.
Electronic tolling also provides drivers with a 10 percent discount on toll fees each time they pass through toll stations.
In addition to video tolling, Monteput has developed a mobile ETC app, available on Android and iOS devices. Through the app, users can open an account, top up and monitor their balance, order a TAG, register license plates for video tolling, and track their passage history.
“The electronic toll collection system has seen continuous and significant growth in the number of users, confirming that drivers increasingly recognize the benefits of digital toll payment,” the press release reads.
