Kovacevic denies guilt during questioning

Kovacevic denies guilt during questioning

Podgorica, (MINA) - Niksic Mayor and Vice President of the New Serbian Democracy (NSD), Marko Kovacevic, said that he had given a statement at the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica in the case opened against him over his speech delivered in Grahovo, stressing that he denied guilt.

He accused certain media outlets of maliciously problematizing his speech in Grahovo, instead of reacting to Monday night’s “Kill the Serb” chant at the football match between Croatia and Montenegro in Zagreb.

Kovacevic claims that certain media outlets are running a smear campaign against him and fabricating a story around a speech in which, according to him, there is no call for violence.

He added that on Monday night, following the Croatia-Montenegro match, according to the reports by those media outlets, it seemed that there was “nothing objectionable” in the chanting of the fans at Maksimir stadium.

Kovacevic stated that the last night’s situation has completely exposed these media outlets, showing the public what real and true hate speech is and how it should be addressed, as opposed to malicious misinterpretations of his address in Grahovo.
