Podgorica, (MINA) - President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatovic, condemned the chanting by part of the fans at the football match between Croatia and Montenegro, which, according to him, represents hate speech directed against members of the Serbian people.
Milatovic said that he will always be against hate speech and advocate for policies that unite people and move Montenegro and the region forward.
“I strongly condemn the chanting by part of the fans at last night’s match between Croatia and Montenegro, which represents hate speech against members of the Serbian people”, said Milatovic.
According to him, in modern and democratic Europe, whose values Montenegro aspires to, should be no room for intolerance towards members of another nation.
“I attended the game with my friend, President of Croatia, Zoran Milanovic. The two of us share the same passion for the national teams of our countries, but also for good-neighborly cooperation”, said Milatovic.
He said that sport should bring people together, not bring them back to the past.
