Milatovic: Montenegro is ready to become 28th EU member by 2028

Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro is ready to become the 28th member of the European Union (EU) by 2028, Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic said, adding that the Union remains the most important cohesive factor for South-East Europe.
According to the press release from the President’s office, Milatovic participated on Wednesday in Sofia at the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), dedicated to strengthening regional unity, stability and the European future of Southeast Europe.
Addressing the plenary session, Milatovic said that European integration remains the strongest stability, security and development framework for the region, stressing that Montenegro is ready to become the 28th EU member by 2028.
Milatovic emphasized that the EU remains the most important cohesive factor for South-East Europe and the framework in which the region can secure long-term stability, security and economic progress.
He added that Montenegro, as the most advanced EU membership candidate, will continue to confirm with its results, reforms and a responsible approach, that enlargement is a realistic and achievable process.
