New laws strengthen Montenegro’s position in the international market

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The adoption of the law ratifying the International Convention for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) and the amendments to the Wine Law mark significant steps towards alignment with international and European standards, as well as improving the quality control of domestic products.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management stated in a press release that the Law on Tuna paves the way for Montenegro to the global tuna market, enabling exports to as many as 52 ICCAT member countries.

The amendments to the Wine Law introduce a system of protected designations of origin (PDO) and protected geographical indications (PGI), further safeguarding the quality and authenticity of domestic wines.

“Harmonization with EU laws is a significant step forward in the European integration process and facilitates the placement of wines on the EU market,” the press release reads.
