Government adopts amendments to Draft Law on ANB

Government adopts amendments to Draft Law on ANB

Podgorica, (MINA) – The Government has adopted eight amendments to the Draft Law on the National Security Agency (ANB), which, among other things, envisage that the Agency can access data from records, registries, and databases based on a written agreement concluded with the head of the institution or the responsible person in a legal entity.

The Government adopted the draft amendments during a telephone session on Tuesday.

The first amendment envisages two new paragraphs to Article 13.

“Electronic access to data from records, registries, and databases maintained by state authorities, state administration bodies, local administration and their bodies, legal entities, and other entities referred to in paragraph 1 of this Article, shall be carried out by the Agency based on a written agreement concluded with the head of the institution or the responsible person in the legal entity”, the amendment states.

The second amendment stipulates that the Agency is authorized to collect data through electronic communications and postal items surveillance.

One of the Government’s amendments also stipulates that employment within the Agency may be established without a public call.

Justice Minister Bojan Bozovic stated earlier on Tuesday that his Ministry would propose amendments to the Draft Law on the ANB, taking into account the suggestions of MPs and the NGO sector.
