Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic has called on Parliament Speaker Andrija Mandic to urgently include the proposal for the election of Mirjana Vucinic as a judge of the Constitutional Court, submitted in May, on the agenda of the next parliamentary session.
According to the press release from the office of the president of the state, Milatovic requested this in a letter sent to Mandic on Tuesday.
“The decision to remain silent about this proposal for months, at a time when the Constitutional Court is functioning with only four judges, represents a further deepening of the constitutional crisis”, the press release reads.
Milatovic said that it is unacceptable that the political interests of the ruling majority have been blocking the work of the Constitutional Court for a year.
“If we want Montenegro in the EU, then we have to work like European democracies, where the institutions do their job, without political bargaining and selectivity”, Milatovic pointed out.
