Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to the Ministry of Energy and Mining, the Government has approved a project to reconstruct the 220-kilovolt (kV) Trebinje–Perucica–Podgorica–Koplik transmission line, worth up to €15 million, aimed at strengthening and modernizing Montenegro’s electricity transmission network.
The Ministry stated in a press release that the reconstruction of this key transmission line will provide both citizens and businesses with a more secure and reliable electricity supply.
“The line has been in operation for more than 50 years, and it is time to equip it with modern technology. The upgrade will increase network capacity, reduce the risk of outages, and create conditions for integrating more energy from solar and hydropower sources – clean, domestic energy that is essential for Montenegro’s future,” the press release stated.
The project, supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, will enhance the country’s energy security while improving regional connectivity. Construction works are planned to be completed by the end of 2028, with long-term benefits expected for both households and the business sector.
