Ministry of Finance and UN strengthen cooperation for sustainable development

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Ministry of Finance and the United Nations (UN) in Montenegro are committed to establishing closer cooperation in the fields of sustainable development, fiscal stability, inclusive economic growth, and the enhancing public policies in line with the 2030 Agenda.

 

Minister of Finance Novica Vukovic and the UN Resident Coordinator in Montenegro, Caroline Tissot, reaffirmed their strong partnership and the UN’s continued support for the country’s development priorities.

 

Tissot thanked the Ministry of Finance for its partnership and expressed the UN system’s readiness to continue providing technical support to reform processes contributing to the country’s progress. 

 

Vukovic expressed satisfaction with the cooperation and highlighted the importance of a strategic approach to public finances, investment in human capital, and strengthening institutions as key elements of sustainable development.

 

He welcomed the UN’s engagement in Montenegro and expressed the expectation that joint initiatives will continue to make a strong contribution to socio-economic reforms.

 

It was agreed at the meeting that the UN system and the Ministry of Finance will continue close coordination to implement the priority activities defined in the UN Cooperation Framework for Sustainable Development.
