Podgorica, Abu Dhabi, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The governments of Montenegro and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of energy, establishing a strategic partnership focused on the development of renewable energy sources, modern energy infrastructure, and advanced technologies.
The agreement was signed during the official visit of Montenegro’s Prime Minister Milojko Spajic to Abu Dhabi.
“This agreement will enable new investments in the energy sector, giving fresh momentum to one of our country’s key strategic industries through the knowledge and experience of leading global companies,” the Government stated in a press release.
During the meeting between Prime Minister Spajic and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, it was noted that both countries are firmly committed to using their excellent bilateral relations to strengthen economic ties through the implementation of concrete projects, particularly in the fields of tourism, energy, infrastructure, and advanced technologies.
Al Nahyan welcomed Montenegro’s progress and the ambitious agenda that Prime Minister Spajić is pursuing in terms of European integration, reforms, and the development of a favourable business environment.
It was concluded at the meeting that, based on the recently signed intergovernmental agreement on economic cooperation, the partnership between the two countries has intensified in key development areas – tourism, energy, infrastructure, and advanced technologies – with the aim of fostering sustainable economic growth in both nations.
The two officials agreed that small countries have the opportunity to advance and develop more rapidly, and that Montenegro, by following such an approach, can become a model of successful sustainable growth in the region.
They also discussed regional relations and Montenegro’s potential to serve as a strategic hub for connecting the region and beyond.
