Podgorica, (MINA) – An intergovernmental conference, at which Montenegro is expected to close two chapters in its EU accession process, will be held on Monday in Luxembourg.
Montenegro is expected to close Chapter 2 – Freedom of Movement for Workers and Chapter 28 – Consumer and Health Protection.
The closure of Chapter 2 would confirm that Montenegro is ready to provide its citizens with easier access to employment opportunities in the EU, without unnecessary administrative obstacles, once the country becomes an EU member.
Chapter 28 covers consumer protection, product safety and improvement of public health through harmonization with EU standards.
Montenegro has so far closed 14 of the 33 negotiation chapters, and the Government’s goal is to close all chapters by the end of the year, so that the country would become the 28th EU member state in 2028.
