Podgorica, (MINA) – A new political coalition is being formed in Podgorica with the aim of removing Podgorica mayor Sasa Mujovic despite the results he has achieved while serving in office, the Europe Now Movement (PES) announced.
PES said that Srdjan Peric must transparently secure the necessary parliamentary majority in order to be elected Capital City Assembly chair, a position that represents the legislative power in Podgorica.
“After Peric’s public appearance, it became formally clear which political structures, together with his party, will make up the new majority and assume the greatest responsibility for the future governance of the Capital City”, stated PES.
They recalled that the rules that provide for the introduction of forced administration were not adopted during the mandate of the current government, but during the ruling of the political entities that now form or support the new Peric’s majority.
“That mechanism has been applied for years in numerous Montenegrin municipalities, without serious objections from those who today attempt to portray it as an allegedly undemocratic or usurpatory solution”, said PES.
They said that neither PES nor Mujovic caused the political crisis in Podgorica.
“It is a result of the DNP’s decision to leave the government, because of the Wastewater Treatment Plant project in Botun”, PES stated.
According to them, this represents the biggest political contradiction, since the new majority, along with Preokret, DPS, the European Alliance, URA and SEP, will also include DNP.
