Milatovic to convene emergency Security and Defense Council session

Podgorica, (MINA) – President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatovic, announced that he will convene an emergency session of the Defense and Security Council in response to, as he said, the escalation of street violence and conflict between criminal clans.

“Due to the recent events, the escalation of violence on our streets and the conflict between criminal clans, which rightfully cause concern and a sense of fear among citizens, I have decided to convene an emergency session of the Council for Defense and Security”, Milatovic wrote in a post on the X social network.

He said that the session will be held in the shortest time provided by law.

Milatovic said that in addition to the members of the Council, the representatives of the Government, whose jurisdiction includes security affairs, as well as the heads of key security institutions – the Police Administration and the National Security Agency – will be invited to the session.

As he pointed out, citizens must feel that the state stands behind them, strong, organized and resolute.
